Where are you in your life? We are all on a journey to find meaning and connection in our lives. Life is filled with challenges, and sometimes we need support in facing and managing those. You have the inner strengths to manage these factors in your life, and it is my job to work with you as you find those. We can find new approaches or new ways of looking at things that help you meet your personal goals in terms of who you want to be, emotionally. You have the tools within yourself to manage a wide array of feelings, including those of anxiety, depression, stress or anger in your life – you just may need a new way to access those, or a new process to bring those out in a moment of struggle. Sometimes, we all need someone to confidentially talk with about what is going on in our lives, how it is creating struggles for us and where to go from here. I have worked with individuals from teens to 70s while under the supervision of licensed clinical mental health counselors. I offer therapy that focuses on finding connection within yourself and with others, in finding the meaning in relationships in your life and on developing additional skills to help you cope with life’s difficult moments. Let’s get started on this journey toward being the inner self that you want to be.

I believe a nonjudgmental, supportive and trusting environment is needed to build a relationship that will allow for the most growth through our counseling experience. Openness and confidentiality are critical aspects of making sure you are comfortable. It is important to recognize that going through counseling can be a difficult and painful experience at times as you work to uncover thoughts and incidents in your past that are impacting your daily life. It can be hard work, but it can also allow you to find strengths within yourself that help you overcome challenges and manage your life in the way you desire.

I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. I am certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. As an LCMHCA, I work closely with a licensed supervisor to make sure I am offering the best support to you. I use evidence-based therapies aimed to create the best environment for our work as you delve into your inner strengths and work to manage struggles in your life. I believe counseling is a collaborative experience. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a person-centered approach built in as well as skills from Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy as we work toward achieving your goals.

I believe you have the ability to overcome struggles and challenges in your life and I am here to help you find those inner strengths and add to your toolbox of skills in order to better manage those. To work together toward your goals, reach out to me at (704) 880-1202.
